macOS install notes

Gatekeeper may block unsigned downloads. Clear the quarantine flag on the disk image, then on the app if macOS still says it is damaged:

$ xattr -cr ~/Downloads/Screention_*.dmg
$ xattr -cr /Applications/Screention.app

Then allow Screen Recording under System Settings → Privacy & Security, or captures will be blank.

Windows install notes

Run the .exe setup. SmartScreen may warn because the installer is not Microsoft-signed — choose More info → Run anyway. Default shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+A.

Linux install notes

One-line install for Debian/Ubuntu. Fetches the latest .deb for your CPU (amd64 or arm64) and installs it with apt:

$ curl -fsSL https://screention.gkernel.com/install.sh | bash

On Wayland, install grim so capture works when the built-in grabber cannot:

$ sudo apt install grim

AppImage: make the file executable before running it:

$ chmod +x screention_*.AppImage

If the UI is blank, install WebKitGTK 4.1 (Debian/Ubuntu):

$ sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0
